We all need rest, and not just your 7 hours of sleep a night (if you are lucky) – I mean proper, time out, rest.
We need time away from the social media distractions and comparisons. Time away from day to day life. Time away from tasks and people that drain your soul. We all need a little time to just be.
Yet strangely, it’s when we are living in this chaotic fog we find it the hardest to take a step back and just stop. It’s at these chaotic times that we don’t feel or see the chaos, it’s all become normal.
There is lots of talk about self-care and self-love and these phrases make a lot of people cringe (me included!) however, the essence of these phrases is right – basically, look after yourself!
Take some time out, do something just for you! Stop thinking for a minute, put your phone away, and just be still.
The stillness will give you clarity, the stillness will help you make that decision, work out the next step.
We all find stillness in different places, find yours and use it, often.
This video is my personal account of how our minds can shut down when we need rest. When the world starts to feel foggy and you can’t get any clarity no matter how hard you look, you need to rest! Rest is so incredibly important for your mind, body and soul.
Where you can find your stillness
- Go for a good long walk, alone – no distractions
- Bake or cook – for fun!
- Go for a bike ride
- Read a good book – get lost in a good story
- Watch a feel good film
- Have a great big bubble bath
Only you will know what brings stillness to your life.
Listen to your body, listen to your mind! We cannot run on empty and still expect to reach the stars.
